A major road accident occurred on Sunday in Rajasthan's Barmer district. A pickup truck carrying people returning from a cremation suddenly lost control and overturned near Bachchonion Ki Dhani in the Shiv region. About a dozen people were injured in the accident, three of whom are said to be in critical condition. After receiving first aid, the seriously injured were referred to Jodhpur for further treatment.
The accident occurred while returning from the cremation.
According to reports, villagers were returning to their village in a pickup truck after attending a funeral. The vehicle reportedly carried more people than its capacity. Near Bachchoniya ki Dhani, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn on the roadside. The accident was so sudden that several people inside were crushed, causing widespread screams.
The villagers showed readiness
Upon receiving news of the accident, nearby villagers immediately rushed to the scene and began evacuating the injured. Police and ambulances arrived shortly afterward. With the help of local residents, all the injured were immediately transported to Barmer District Hospital , where a team of doctors began their treatment.
The condition of three injured is critical.
According to hospital sources, approximately 18 people were injured. Three of these individuals were seriously injured and have been referred to Mathura Das Mathur Hospital for advanced treatment. The other injured are being treated at Barmer District Hospital and are currently in stable condition.
Investigation into the causes of the accident
Preliminary investigations suggest that a sharp turn and the vehicle's high speed may have contributed to the accident. Police have launched an investigation and are questioning the driver.
Appeal to the administration
Following the accident, authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads and avoid overloading. In rural areas, overloading pickups and other small vehicles increases the risk of such accidents.
