Jodhpur: The long-standing demand for air-conditioned bus service on the Jodhpur-Udaipur-Banswara route is now about to be fulfilled. The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways) has decided to operate air-conditioned buses on this route for the first time. This service will be available to passengers starting Wednesday, April 1st, allowing them to comfortably travel the approximately 448-kilometer journey.
Buses operating and timings
The Jodhpur Roadways Depot has been provided two new 2/2 AC buses on contract by headquarters. The timings of these buses will be as follows:
From Jodhpur to Banswara:
Departure from Jodhpur at 6 pm
Route: Pali → Nadol → Desuri → Charbhuja → Nathdwara
Reach Udaipur at 12 midnight
Departure from Udaipur at 12:30 pm
Reached Banswara via Salumber at 4:30 am.
Return route (Banswara to Jodhpur):
Departure from Banswara at 6 pm
Reach Udaipur via Salumber at 10 pm
Departure from Udaipur at 10:30 pm
Via Nathdwara → Desuri → Nadol → Pali and reach Jodhpur at 4:30 AM

Passengers on this route faced significant inconvenience during the summer. Following the demand from passengers and public representatives, Roadways has introduced AC bus service. According to officials, if there is a good response from passengers, AC bus service may be introduced on other major routes in the future.
Future plans
Roadways has also begun preparations to operate electric buses in an effort to protect the environment. Under the plan, electric buses will be prioritized on Jodhpur's busy and pollution-prone roads. It is estimated that the Jodhpur depot will soon receive 20 electric buses, which will improve both pollution control and passenger convenience in the city.
Ummed Singh, Chief Manager, Roadways Jodhpur said that this important step has been taken keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers and regular operation of buses will be ensured.
