In a viral video, people were even told that a war was about to happen and gas would run out, so people should start collecting alternative fuel.
apologized and clarified
Following their arrest, the accused publicly apologized, stating that they had created the Reels based on other people's videos without verifying the veracity. They also clarified that there is no shortage of gas, petrol, and diesel in the country and urged people to ignore such rumors.
Police appeal
The police administration has appealed to the public to verify the veracity of any information before sharing it on social media. Strict action will continue to be taken against those spreading rumors.
This case exemplifies how false information spread in a bid to become viral on social media can create fear and instability in society. The administration is now determined to deal with such cases with a firm hand, so that anyone will think twice before attempting such actions in the future.
