The central government has delivered a major gift to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project. This ambitious project will cost over ₹13,000 crore and has the potential to completely transform the city's transportation system.
The 41-km-long corridor will include 36 stations.
Metro Phase 2 will develop a 41-kilometer-long North-South Corridor, stretching from Prahladpura to Todi More. A total of 36 metro stations are proposed along this route, strengthening connectivity between the north and south parts of the city.
These major areas will get direct benefit
With the launch of this project, many major and busy areas of Jaipur will get direct metro connection, which include-
Sitapura Industrial Area
VKI (Vishwakarma Industrial Area)
Jaipur Airport
Tonk Road
SMS Hospital and Stadium
Ambabari
Vidyadhar Nagar
Metro stations will be built underground in the airport area, providing passengers with a modern and convenient travel experience.
Phase-1 will have better connection
Metro Phase 2 will be connected to the existing Phase 1 through interchange stations and feeder services. This will create an integrated metro network across the city, further facilitating transportation.
Traffic and pollution will be affected.
Currently, approximately 60,000 passengers travel daily on Jaipur Metro Phase 1. After the launch of Phase 2, the number of passengers is expected to increase manifold.

Target to be completed by 2031
The government has set a target to complete this project by September 2031. This project is considered a significant step towards making Jaipur a modern, smart, and future-ready city.

The major locations where metro stations are proposed in Phase-2 include:
Todi Mor, Harmada, VKI Road area, Vidyadhar Nagar, Ambabari, Panipech, Collectorate, Khasa Kothi, Ashok Marg, SMS Hospital, Narayan Singh Circle, Rambagh Circle, Durgapura, Sitapura, Goner Mor, Bilwa, Prahladpura and many other places.
