Prayagraj Metro Project: Following the example of previously established metropolises like Lucknow, Kanpur, and Noida in Uttar Pradesh, the Sangam city of Prayagraj will now be connected to the speed of the metro train. Two routes will be built in Prayagraj, spanning a total of 44 kilometers. Both routes, spanning 21 and 23 kilometers, will have 39 stations.

Plan for the Prayagraj Metro Project

This ambitious 44-kilometer metro network plan in Uttar Pradesh envisages the construction of a total of 39 stations, including the development of two large depots.

Plan for the Prayagraj Metro Project with Two Corridors

First Corridor: The first corridor of the Prayagraj Metro station will be approximately 23 kilometers long, running from Bamrauli to Jhunsi City Lake. This route will cover important areas such as Shamim Market, Subedarganj, Prayagraj Junction, Civil Lines, Medical College Square, Sangam, and Jhunsi. Approximately 20 stations are planned along this corridor.

Second Corridor: The second corridor is proposed to be 21 kilometers long. This route will include key areas such as Ganganagar, Phaphamau, Pritamnagar, MNNIT, University Road, Colonelganj, and Naini.

A central interchange station connecting both corridors will be built at the Parade Ground in the heart of Prayagraj city, providing easy route change for passengers and facilitating connectivity.

Under the Prayagraj Metro project, a total of two corridors will be constructed, each with separate trains. According to the current plan, a total of 24 metro trains are planned to operate on both corridors. These trains are planned to run every hour, with a stoppage of one to two minutes.

Estimated Cost of Prayagraj Metro Project

The Prayagraj Metro project is estimated to cost over ₹12,000 crore, which includes various construction and land acquisition costs, including track construction, station infrastructure, and land acquisition. The project will have two corridors connecting the old and new parts of the city, which will impact costs.

Metro Maintenance and Repair Work

For smooth operation, two depots will be built at Kanihar Lake City in Jhunsi and Mirzapur Road for metro maintenance. More than 14 hectares of land will be acquired to facilitate these operations. Initially, plans were made to build a depot on Army land in Chheoki, but due to various reasons, it has now been decided to develop it on land belonging to a closed industrial complex on Mirzapur Road. The land has been inspected and identified by the Prayagraj Development Authority.

Prayagraj Metro Project will bring traffic relief to commuters

The Prayagraj Metro Project will not only ease the city's growing traffic pressure but also facilitate industrial and educational transportation, positioning Prayagraj as one of the cities with a modern and well-organized transportation network in the future.
