The weather in Rajasthan has taken a sudden turn, drenching many parts of the state with rain and hailstorms. Due to the activation of a Western Disturbance, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms occurred across the state on Tuesday. The weather's effects were clearly visible in several districts, including the capital Jaipur, where temperatures dropped, a mild chill, and fog prevailed.
Heavy rain in Jaipur, temperature drops drastically
Jaipur experienced heavy rain for about an hour and a half on Tuesday night, flooding many areas of the city. The continuous rain caused the maximum temperature to drop by about 7 degrees Celsius. A slight chill and fog in the morning made people feel the change in weather.

Several districts received over an inch of rain and hailstorms caused damage.
Heavy rain and hailstorms lashed several districts, including Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Nagaur, Churu, Sikar, and Jhunjhunu. Some areas received more than an inch of rain, flooding fields and ruining crops.
Hailstorms have caused significant damage to standing crops in several villages in Sikar and Jhunjhunu. Farmers are also worried as produce stored in the markets has also been soaked.
The wind speed exceeded 40 km/h
During this change in weather, strong storms also swept through many areas. Nagaur, Churu, and Hanumangarh recorded wind speeds exceeding 40 kilometers per hour, disrupting normal life.

Temperatures drop, with mercury below 30°C in many cities
Due to the impact of rain, the maximum temperature of more than 10 cities of the state dropped below 30 degree Celsius.
The highest temperature was recorded at Chittorgarh at 36.6°C.
The coldest area was Fatehpur (Sikar), where the temperature dropped to 25°C.
Heavy crop damage, increasing concern for farmers
Continuous rain and hailstorms have affected crops like wheat and psyllium. In many areas, fields were flooded, damaging crops ready for harvest. Furthermore, farmers are facing financial losses as produce stored in markets has also been soaked.
Alert today too, then the weather will be clear
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is still expected in some areas, especially in the northern parts of Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions, on April 8. However, after this, the weather is expected to remain clear for the next four to five days and temperatures are expected to rise gradually.
Experts say that the heat may intensify from the last week of April, and this time there are chances of severe heat in May-June.
While the sudden change in weather in Rajasthan has brought relief from the heat, it has also become a disaster for farmers. While light rain may continue today, a hot spell is likely to follow, accompanied by intense sunshine and rising temperatures.
