On the night of March 8th, an incident occurred on an Indigo flight from Guwahati to Delhi that left passengers breathless. Around 8:30 p.m., while the plane was flying at an altitude of 30,000 to 35,000 feet, three young men suddenly began creating a ruckus. They began shouting loudly, "The plane is going to crash."
This sudden rumor spread panic throughout the cabin. The young children and women on board began crying in fear. The air hostess and crew members tried repeatedly to pacify the young men, but the three men refused to stop. They even behaved indecently towards a female crew member.
Concerned for the safety of the passengers, Rajasthan cadre IPS officer Pankaj Chaudhary, who was on the same flight, intervened. He sternly reprimanded the three young men, restraining them from shouting and controlling their behavior. He also instructed the crew to take action according to SOPs.
After calming the youths and securing the passengers' safety, Pankaj Chaudhary called in the CISF Quick Response Team as soon as the flight landed in Delhi. The three youths were detained, formal action was taken against them, and an apology was also sought. Following this incident, IndiGo has launched an investigation into the behavior of its crew members.
Pankaj Chaudhary said:
"I've flown for the past 15-20 years, but I've never witnessed such an incident on a flight. The three young men screamed continuously for 10-15 minutes. Seeing the passengers' fear, I had to intervene. Eventually, we were able to control the three young men and ensure a safe landing."
