Jaipur, March 24, 2026 (Rajasthan): The current LPG shortage in Jaipur has exacerbated the hardships of ordinary people. The situation has become so dire that petrol pumps have had to implement a new system to limit gas distribution. Under this unannounced rationing, auto-rickshaw drivers are being provided a maximum of ₹250 per gallon of LPG, and car drivers are being provided a maximum of ₹550 per gallon of LPG.

New arrangements at pumps, supply stopped at many places

Many petrol pumps in major areas of the city, such as Ajmer Road, Jhalana, and Transport Nagar, have either completely stopped supplying LPG or are providing very limited quantities. Signs at the pumps clearly state that gas will not be available beyond the prescribed limit.

Auto drivers are the worst hit

Auto-rickshaw drivers have been the hardest hit by the LPG crisis. They have been forced to queue up as early as 4 a.m., but even after waiting for hours, they are only able to get gas worth ₹250.
Drivers say that it's not possible to run their autos all day with this much gas, severely affecting their earnings. Many drivers have been forced to stop working.

Public transport system collapses

The city's public transport system has been affected by the decline in the number of autos. Commuters are now forced to take cabs or other more expensive options, increasing their daily expenses exponentially.

Increased financial burden on common people

People who go to work or school are now paying higher rents than before. Previously, monthly expenses of around 5,000-6,000 rupees have now risen to 9,000-10,000 rupees.
Passengers say that they are forced to resort to expensive means of transport.

Hours in line, yet unmet needs

According to auto drivers, filling up gas can take up half their day. This leads to a lack of passengers and a direct impact on their income. Many are facing a livelihood crisis.

When will the situation improve?

At present, no clear timeline has been issued by the administration or the supply department regarding the situation. If a solution is not found soon, the crisis is likely to worsen in the coming days.

The LPG shortage in Jaipur is no longer just a fuel crisis, but is directly affecting daily life, employment, and the city's transportation system. If improvements are not made soon, the situation could worsen.
