Barmer, April 2, 2026 (Rajasthan): The controversy surrounding the Shiv Assembly seat in Barmer district has escalated. A confrontation that began on social media between independent MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati and bhajan singer Chhotu Singh Rawana has now reached the police station. Rawana, along with his supporters, reached the Shiv police station and filed a case against the MLA and others.
A case has been filed under sections of defamation and invasion of privacy.
According to the police, based on Ravan's complaint, a case has been registered against six people, including MLA Bhati, under sections related to defamation and privacy violation. Electronic evidence, such as pen drives and documents, has also been submitted along with the complaint. Given the seriousness of the case, the process of referring it to the CID-CB for further investigation has been initiated.
A video of a road sparked a controversy.
The entire incident began with a video showing the poor condition of a road in the Shiv area. Chhotu Singh Rawana says he filmed the video as a private citizen, but the controversy escalated after it surfaced. He claims that if he exposes the condition of other roads in the area, it could raise even more questions.

Ravana said that his social media comment had a significant impact, catapulting the issue beyond the state and into national attention. He said that he used limited and general language, but events unfolded rapidly after that.
MLA denies allegations of threats
Ravana alleged that following the comment, he was subjected to attempts to intimidate and pressure him through phone calls, even indirectly threatening to kill him.
MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati, while rejecting these allegations, said that some people are using others to create an atmosphere and no one should become a medium in such matters.
Rajput community also came into active role
The Ravan Rajput community has also become active in the case. Representatives of the community have been submitting memorandums to the administration in various areas, demanding protection for Ravan and a fair investigation. Recently, members of the community even went to the Superintendent of Police's office and demanded action.
'I will not back down' – Raavana's blunt statement
Chhotu Singh Ravana clearly stated that he will not bow to any pressure. He stated that he is not interested in entering politics, but will fight for his honor and truth at every level. He openly challenged the MLA and even called for a face-to-face conversation.
