Rajasthan politics has once again been thrown into a tizzy after the security arrangements for Ravindra Singh Bhati, the popular young MLA from Barmer, were suddenly reduced. According to a recent administrative order, he will now have access to only one personal security officer (PSO), instead of four as before. This decision has sparked debate and outrage within political circles and among his supporters.
What does the order say?
An order issued from the Barmer District Superintendent of Police's office (dated April 13, 2026) stated that this decision was made based on state government directives and intelligence input. According to the order, MPs and MLAs will now be assigned only one PSO each under a uniform security arrangement.
Bhati previously received additional security, including three other security personnel, due to potential threats. However, these additional security personnel have been withdrawn after the new policy came into effect.

Why was additional security provided earlier?
According to sources, some time ago, MLA Bhati received threats through social media and other sources. Based on this, security agencies provided him with additional security. At that time, intelligence inputs indicated a potential threat.
Now that security has been reduced, the question arises whether the threat level has reduced or is it simply an administrative decision taken due to a change in policy.
The matter is related to the Oran movement
Ravindra Singh Bhati has been very active in the "Save the Oran" issue recently. He has openly spoken out against the government to protect the Oran lands in the Jaisalmer and Barmer regions.

Political analysts believe the timing of the security reduction coincides with the protests, fueling speculation that the decision may have political overtones. However, the administration has not confirmed any such allegations.
Anger among supporters
As soon as the news broke, Bhati supporters expressed anger against the government and administration on social media. Supporters said reducing security for a leader who is constantly active in public meetings and tours could be risky.
administration's side
The police administration maintains that this decision has been taken in full accordance with the rules and that a uniform policy is being implemented for all public representatives. According to them, this step is not aimed at any particular individual, but rather at bringing uniformity to the entire system.
What is the big question?
The biggest question in this entire matter is:
When the threat was revealed earlier, then why was the security suddenly reduced now?
Has there been a change in intelligence input?
Or is it simply part of the administrative process?
While this reduction in Ravindra Singh Bhati's security appears to be an administrative decision, its timing and circumstances have made it a subject of political debate. It will be important to see in the coming days whether this decision will be reconsidered or whether the matter will continue to proceed as it is.
