A bee attack in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district took a horrific turn. First, an elderly man died, and then another bee attack occurred at a cremation ground during his funeral. In this second incident, one person was killed and approximately 50 others were injured.
First attack: Elderly man dies
The incident occurred in Parsoli village, in the Begun area of the district. An 80-year-old man was first attacked by bees, leaving him seriously injured. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.
Havoc broke out again at the crematorium
As the villagers arrived at the cremation ground for the elderly man's funeral and preparations were underway, the swarm of bees suddenly became aggressive again. They began attacking the people present there.
The attack created panic and people started running here and there to save their lives, some even left the body there and ran away.
Another death in second attack
Approximately 50 people were injured by bee stings in the attack. The injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals, where some were reported to be in critical condition. One person died during treatment, bringing the death toll to two.
Many of those injured in the incident were transferred to a hospital in Chittorgarh in critical condition. Doctors say some patients remain in critical condition and are undergoing treatment.
The last rites were performed wearing PPE kits.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the administration immediately swung into action. Officials called a medical team to the scene and made special security arrangements.
In view of the possibility of a second attack by bees, some people were sent to the crematorium wearing PPE kits, after which the funeral of the elderly person was completed safely.
Administration alert, panic in the area
Following the incident, authorities have issued an alert throughout the area. Locals are in a state of panic, and preparations are underway to seek the help of experts to remove the swarm of bees.
