The atmosphere in Udaipur, Rajasthan, has once again heated up over the much-discussed Kanhaiyalal murder case that took place in 2022. Nearly four years later, the lack of a final verdict in the case has exposed the anguish of the victim's family.

Yash Sahu, son of the deceased Kanhaiyalal, shared an emotional post on social media, questioning the delay in justice. His appeal not only shocked the public but also created a stir in political circles.

What was the whole matter?

In June 2022, Kanhaiyalal, a tailor in Udaipur, was brutally murdered in his shop. This brutal incident shocked the entire nation and made national headlines.

The reason behind the murder was said to be a dispute related to religious sentiments, after which the Central Government handed over the investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Son's emotional plea

Kanhaiyalal's son Yash said in his post that the accused have confessed to the crime, despite this the punishment is being delayed.

Citing an old statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he has demanded the state government to set up a special court.

His most poignant appeal was this:
“Until my father gets justice, I will not be able to immerse his ashes in the Ganga.”

This statement is rapidly going viral on social media and is deeply touching the sentiments of people.

Politics also intensified

Politics in Rajasthan has also heated up over this issue. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, targeting the current BJP government, said:

  • A lot of time has passed since they came to power, yet the special court has not been formed.

  • If the case had been heard daily, the culprits would have been punished by now.

  • He also alleged that the matter was left to be a political issue.

Status of investigation and trial

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the case, but the testimony of all witnesses has not yet been completed. According to reports, several witnesses are still pending, prolonging the trial.

Delay in the judicial process is emerging as the biggest issue in this case.

questions arising in the public

After this entire incident, many big questions are being raised –

  • After all, why could the case not be decided even after 4 years?

  • Why is there a delay in setting up a special court?

  • Is justice being affected amid political allegations and counter-allegations?

The Kanhaiyalal murder case is no longer just a criminal case, but has become a symbol of the justice system, political will and the pain of the victim's family.

A son's cry for justice for his father has put the entire system on trial. It remains to be seen when this case will gain momentum and when the victim's family will receive justice.
