Premium petrol (power petrol) prices have risen again in Rajasthan. On Friday, March 20th, state-owned oil companies released revised rates, making premium petrol more expensive in many districts. The surge in international crude oil prices is believed to be the primary reason for this increase.
Why did petrol prices increase?
Global crude oil prices remain volatile. Escalating tensions between Israel, the United States, and Iran have created uncertainty about oil supplies. This has led to higher prices in the international market, directly impacting India's fuel market.
India imports a large part of its needs, hence the impact of global fluctuations is directly seen on the prices of petrol and diesel.
How much impact in which districts?
Difference in the prices of premium petrol has been seen in different districts of Rajasthan.
The highest price was recorded in Barmer , where petrol became expensive due to high taxes and transport costs.
Prices are also relatively high in western districts like Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Jalore .
Whereas in Ajmer , lower rates have been recorded compared to other districts, due to which the consumers here have got some relief.
What is 'Power Petrol'?
Power petrol is a premium fuel, unlike regular petrol, that contains additives that enhance engine performance. This helps improve vehicle mileage and engine smoothness, so it costs more than regular petrol.
Impact on common people
The price increase in premium petrol will directly impact drivers who use it in high-performance or luxury vehicles. Furthermore, the increased transportation costs could gradually impact the prices of other commodities as well.
According to experts, if international crude oil prices continue to rise, fuel prices could rise further in the coming days. However, if global tensions ease, price relief is also possible.
