A tragic road accident has rocked the entire Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. In the Gafur Bhatta area of the Kotwali police station, a speeding van struck three sisters walking on the roadside. 18-year-old Kalbelia dancer Raveena Sapera died on the spot, while her two sisters were seriously injured.
How the accident happened
According to preliminary investigations, an Eco van was speeding toward the city. The driver lost control of the vehicle near School Number 3. The out-of-control van slammed into three sisters walking on the side of the road.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact was so severe that the van dragged Raveena for approximately 20 to 25 meters. The van then crossed a sewer drain and collided with the wall of a house. Raveena was pinned between the vehicle and the wall, leaving her in critical condition.

Immediately after the accident, locals courageously launched rescue operations. After considerable effort, the van was pushed back and Raveena was extricated. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared her dead.
The injured sisters—Kalpana and Mamta Sapera—have also been hospitalized for treatment. The van driver, Togaram Khatri, was also injured in the accident and is undergoing treatment.

The deceased, Raveena, and her sisters were involved in the Kalbelia dance form. They earned their living by performing at hotels and resorts in Jaisalmer. Raveena's untimely death has left her family in deep grief, and the local artist community is also deeply saddened.

Police arrived at the scene, seized the van, and began investigating the matter. According to ASI Omaram of the Kotwali police station, the primary cause of the accident is believed to be speeding and the driver's negligence. Police are also recording statements from eyewitnesses.
