In Rajasthan's Banswara district, protests over a dumping yard turned violent when an administrative team arrived to inspect and measure the land. Local villagers protested and began pelting officials with stones, leading to a tense situation.
SDM-Tehsildar's vehicles were targeted
During the incident, stones were hurled at the vehicles of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDM) and Tehsildar. This shattered the vehicle windows and caused chaos at the scene. Villagers reportedly pelted stones from nearby highlands and hills, making rescue efforts difficult.
A total of eight people were injured in the incident, including four policemen and four municipal employees. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Police deployed to protect the officers also came under stone pelting.
Villagers are protesting against the dumping yard
According to reports, villagers have been protesting the proposed dumping site for a long time. They say it will have serious environmental and health impacts. This protest sparked anger when the administration arrived to survey the land.

Police force increased on the spot
Following the incident, the administration deployed additional police forces to the area. To control the situation, officials have also begun negotiating with the villagers to try to calm the situation.
Appeal to the administration
The district administration has appealed to the public to maintain peace and stated that any issues will be resolved through dialogue. It is also promising to identify those involved in the incident and take legal action.
The dispute over the dumping yard in Banswara has now become a law and order challenge. The confrontation between the administration and the villagers has made it clear that implementing such projects without consent can be difficult. In the coming days, the administration will face a major challenge in resolving this issue peacefully.
