Following the nationwide increase in cooking gas prices, ordinary people are facing another financial blow. Traveling on highways is about to become more expensive, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to increase the fee for FASTag annual passes.
FASTag Annual Pass Rates Increasing
Under the new rates, the FASTag annual pass will now cost ₹3,075 instead of ₹3,000. This increased price will take effect on April 1. While this increase is only ₹75, it will impact millions of motorists across the country.
This district will be most affected in Rajasthan
The impact is particularly felt in Dausa district, Rajasthan, across India. National highways to major destinations like Jaipur, Delhi, Kota, Manoharpur, and Bandikui pass through here. Local residents are regularly required to pass through toll plazas, increasing their travel costs.
This increase will affect millions of consumers.
This change will affect more than 5.6 million FASTag users across the country. This annual pass is primarily for private vehicles, eliminating the need to pay tolls repeatedly.
According to NHAI, after obtaining an annual pass, drivers can travel for a maximum of 200 trips or up to one year without additional charges. After that, normal toll rates apply.
What is the benefit of FASTag annual pass?
Officials say the FASTag system has reduced long queues at toll plazas and encouraged digital payments. However, the fee hike has also caused resentment among many motorists, who believe that toll rates are being continuously raised despite the lack of expected improvements in road infrastructure.
