The unique style of a young female IPS officer is currently the talk of the town in Rajasthan's Jodhpur district. PD Nitya, who recently assumed the position of Jodhpur Rural Superintendent of Police, set an example in her very first inspection, raising questions about traditional police procedures.
Guesswork became the topic of discussion more than observation.
On Friday, Superintendent of Police Nitya visited the Shergarh police station for an inspection. Usually, a red carpet and a wooden podium are arranged for the arrival of a senior officer. But something different was observed here.
As soon as the Superintendent of Police (SP) got out of her vehicle, she ignored the carpeted area and chose to approach the salute point directly through the unpaved ground. Furthermore, she kicked aside the wooden post placed for the salute and stood on the ground to receive the salute from the soldiers.
Moving away from 'Sir culture' to the message of 'teamwork'
This move by the Superintendent of Police (SP) wasn't just a simple gesture, but rather signaled a shift in the police system. Standing on par with the officers and taking the salute symbolized that equality and team spirit should now be prioritized in policing, rather than hierarchy or ostentation.
Even the police officers present at the scene were impressed by this simple gesture. As the scene went viral on social media, people hailed it as the beginning of a positive change.
Thorough inspection of Shergarh police station
Along with this symbolic message, SP Nitya also took a serious look at the police station's operations. Indira Devi and Buddharam were present with her during the inspection.
Crime records and documents were scrutinized closely
Reviewed the status of cases registered in the police station and action taken
Instructions were given to improve the working methods
Priorities: Drug control and women empowerment
Superintendent of Police Nitya clarified that her priorities include drug control and women's safety and empowerment. She said that only police proactiveness and sensitivity can instill fear in criminals and confidence in the general public.
Attention was also paid to ground level problems.
During the inspection, the policemen also openly expressed their problems.
Shortage of staff in the police station
Old and dilapidated police jeep
Lack of separate barracks for women police personnel
The Superintendent of Police listened to all these problems seriously and assured them of a speedy resolution. He said that improved resources would strengthen both the efficiency and morale of the soldiers.
A wave of appreciation poured in on social media
As soon as the video went viral, people praised SP Nitya's work ethic. Many compared her to movie characters, saying the country needs more down-to-earth and honest officers like her.
A new beginning of change
This move by SP PD Nitya is not just a viral video, but a sign of a changing mindset and leadership style within the police system. This message of simplicity, equality, and responsibility could shape the way policing is conducted in the future.
