Jodhpur:
A serious incident of attack on a police team has occurred in the Ratanada police station area of the city. During a late-night patrol, police arrived to silence loud music. Two constables were injured in the attack, and their uniforms were torn.
According to the police, on the night of March 17, 2026, the officer on duty was conducting routine patrols in the area with his team. Meanwhile, on the morning of March 18, between 4:15 and 4:30 a.m., a loud sound was reported in the Kesar Bagh Valmiki Basti area, which was disturbing residents.
Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and called out to have the sound turned down, but there was no response from inside. A short while later, a young man emerged and began arguing with the police, behaving rudely. Despite the police's persuasion, he called his other friends.
It is alleged that several people then attacked the police team with sticks and stones. Constable Vikas Kumar suffered a hand injury in this sudden attack, while Constable Gopal was also injured by a stone. The attackers tore the policemen's uniforms and broke their nameplates.
When the situation escalated, the police team immediately alerted the PCR. Subsequently, reinforcements from other Rajasthan Police stations—Airport, Mahamandir, and Udaymandir—as well as the RAC arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested three youths on charges of disturbing the peace, while the search for the other accused continues. A case has been registered against the named accused and an investigation has been initiated.
Police say strict action will be taken against those who disrupt law and order and attack police. The situation in the area is currently reported to be normal, but police are maintaining surveillance as a precaution.
