The Rajasthan government has implemented a new policy to streamline and make the distribution of commercial LPG in the state transparent. Under this policy, large consumers such as hotels, restaurants, marriage gardens, and wedding events will now receive gas cylinders according to a fixed quota. The government's aim is to balance gas availability and prioritize needy consumers.

What is the new policy?

According to the new commercial LPG policy, consumers will be allocated anywhere from 40% to 100% of their gas quota based on their needs, category, and usage. This means that everyone won't receive the same amount of gas, but rather their quota will be determined based on their work and priorities.

Who will get priority?

The government has divided consumers into different categories-

  • 100% quota : hospitals, emergency services and essential institutions

  • 70% to 90% quota : Hotels, restaurants, large kitchens

  • 40% to 60% quota : Marriage gardens, wedding ceremonies, event organizers

  • This arrangement will ensure that essential services do not face gas shortage.

    Why was this decision taken?

Demand for commercial gas has increased rapidly in Rajasthan recently, especially during the wedding and tourist seasons. There have been numerous complaints that some large consumers over-purchase cylinders, causing inconvenience to small businesses and ordinary consumers. This new policy has been implemented to address this issue.

    What will be the effect?

    • Hotels and restaurants will have to plan their usage better

    • Wedding organizers will have to manage with limited gas.

  • Essential services will now be able to get uninterrupted gas supply.

  • Black marketing and stocking of gas will also be banned.

  • Monitoring and enforcement process

The government has also instituted strict monitoring to ensure compliance with this policy. Gas agencies have been instructed to distribute cylinders according to the prescribed quota. Violations will result in action.

What is the benefit to the general public?

The biggest advantage of this policy will be that the availability of gas will remain balanced and no section will have to face shortage in times of need.

This new commercial LPG policy of the Rajasthan government is being considered a big step towards streamlining gas distribution, giving priority to essential services and preventing misuse.
