In Rajasthan's Barmer district, a dispute between renowned bhajan singer Chhotu Singh Rawana and Shiv Sena MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati over a social media comment is escalating. How did the whole controversy start?
Recently, a video went viral on social media in which a young child invited MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati to the inauguration of a swimming pool. The MLA even spoke with the child via video call, which was widely appreciated.
Subsequently, another video surfaced in which a child allegedly suffering from cancer was seen emotionally stating that he had called and texted the MLA repeatedly but received no response. This video sparked a debate on social media.
Chhotu Singh Ravan's comment and allegations
Commenting on this second video, Bhajan singer Chhotu Singh Ravana wrote that
“If this kid was a reel star, all the leaders would be with him.”
Ravana says that it was a normal social comment, but after this he received a call from the MLA at around 11 pm.
Ravana alleged that he was told in a threatening tone over the phone:
“I have left you twice, what you are doing now is not right, this is my last call.”
He released a video stating that he is an artist and has freedom of expression. He did not use any abusive language, only made a general comment, and therefore, threatening him is wrong.
MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati's reply
MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati, while reacting to the controversy, said that-
Before commenting on any topic, it is important to know its truth.
He did not have complete information about the actual condition of that child.
He never shies away from helping the needy.
If someone tries to create a narrative without knowing the facts, it is wrong.
He also said that a responsible person should gather complete information before reacting and should not become someone's "tool".
Debate escalates on social media

Some people are talking about freedom of expression in support of Ravana.
At the same time, some people are emphasizing on the need to know the facts in favor of the MLA.
