A political and social controversy is rapidly escalating in the Barmer district of western Rajasthan. The dispute, which began between Shiv Kshetra MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati and renowned bhajan singer Chhotu Singh Rawana, has now reached administrative offices. The matter has taken such a turn that it appears to be a social tension, not just a dispute between two individuals.
How did the controversy start?
The entire controversy reportedly began with a phone call. Chhotu Singh Rawana alleged that MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati threatened him over the phone and indirectly threatened to kill him. Following this allegation, the matter quickly went viral on social media, and the controversy quickly became a topic of public debate.
On the other hand, MLA Bhati rejected these allegations and said that some people are trying to spoil the atmosphere through others and he is being unnecessarily dragged into the controversy.
The matter reached the SP office from the Collectorate.
On Tuesday, Chhotu Singh Rawana and his supporters arrived at the Barmer Collectorate, where they submitted a memorandum to the administration. A large number of members of the Rawana community were present.
Their main demands were:
Strict legal action against the MLA
Ensuring Your Safety
Filing an FIR in a fair manner
Ravana also expressed apprehension that political influence might hinder his filing of the report.
Initiatives for reconciliation between societies
Seeing the growing tension, the Shri Rajput Samaj Seva Samiti intervened and appealed to both parties to maintain peace. Committee officials clearly stated that this is a dispute between two individuals and should not escalate into a conflict between two communities.
The committee also said that:
Both communities have been linked in mutual brotherhood for centuries.
Disputes should be resolved through dialogue
Some anti-social elements are trying to spoil the atmosphere.
Discussion of 'resignation' intensifies
Amidst the controversy, discussions of a compromise are gaining momentum. Enlightened members of society are trying to find a solution by bringing both parties together on a common platform. However, no official consensus has yet been reached.
The government and administration's view
The state government, led by Bhajanlal Sharma, has been emphasizing social harmony. This growing controversy in a sensitive district like Barmer poses a challenge for the administration.
Experts believe that if this issue is not resolved in time then:
Social harmony may be affected.
Local elections may be affected.
A new equation may emerge in regional politics.
What next?
All eyes are now on the potential filing of an FIR on April 1st. If the matter escalates to legal action, the dispute could deepen. However, if the reconciliation initiative succeeds, it could set a positive example.
The Bhati-Ravana dispute is currently at a critical juncture, with preparations underway for legal action, while efforts for social reconciliation are underway. The coming days will determine whether this matter will be resolved peacefully or escalate into something more serious.
