A horrific road accident unfolded in Barmer district on Tuesday afternoon. Four people died on the spot and one was seriously injured in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a car near Harsani Fanta on the Barmer-Jaisalmer highway.
The collision was so severe that the car became junk.
According to eyewitnesses, the collision between the two vehicles was accompanied by a loud explosion. The car was completely mangled, and the occupants were trapped inside. Local villagers and police struggled to extricate the injured, but by then all four had died.
One family ends
The deceased in the accident included three members of the same family—a husband, a wife, and their infant son. The deceased were identified as Baburam, his wife Baby, and son Vivaan, all residents of Jhalamaliya, Bhopalgarh, Jodhpur. The fourth deceased was identified as Virendra, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
The injured driver is in critical condition
The driver of the pickup truck was seriously injured in the accident and was immediately hospitalized. His condition is said to be critical.
Officials gathered at the hospital, the atmosphere was sad.
Upon receiving information about the accident, senior police and administrative officials arrived at the scene. The District Superintendent of Police, Additional Collector, and several other officials visited the hospital to assess the situation. The bodies have been deposited in the mortuary for post-mortems.

Initial police investigation revealed that the pickup, loaded with paint cans and other supplies, was traveling from Barmer to Jaisalmer. The car was traveling from Jaisalmer to Barmer. A detailed investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
Second incident: High speed took away another life
On the same day, another accident occurred near Konra Fanta on the Bakhasar road. A speeding vehicle hit a motorcycle, killing one youth on the spot and seriously injuring another. Both men were traveling from Dhorimanna to Chauhatan.
These two road accidents, which occurred in a single day, have shaken the entire area. The loss of a family in the first accident is particularly tragic. Police are investigating the matter and people are urged to exercise caution on the roads.
